BETWEEN 2003 AND 2006 Phoenix was considered one of the fastest growing cities in the southwest region during the real estate boom. Between 2000 and 2010 Phoenix experienced a 24 percent increase in population and in 2015 welcomed 88,000 new residents. Currently, the Phoenix and surrounding areas are anticipated to be one of the fastest growing areas in the United States.

METHODS OF TRANSPORT
MILEAGE FROM PHOENIX TO OTHER MAJOR CITIES The valley’s grid of federal, state and local roadways 250,000 vehicles. Roadwork and construction projects are continually under way in order to accommodate the rapid growth of population and business developments. The major ways in and out of Arizona include the I- 10, running east to Las Cruces, New Mexico and west to Southern California; U.S. 60, running north to Las Vegas Additionally, the Phoenix area is within driving distance of many other major cities. From Hollywood to Las Vegas, many of these locations are less than a day’s drive.
PHOENIX WORKS CLOSELY With Valley Metro Transit to provide public transportation systems throughout the valley. Valley Metro buses operate through private companies to connect Phoenix, Glendale, and Scottsdale as well as the other parts of Maricopa County. Along RAPID buses, and Rideshare, a matching service for those who want to carpool. The Phoenix Metro Light Rail is another form of public transportation, connecting from Glendale to Mesa, the Metro Light Rail has become a staple of downtown phoenix. Visit

ARIZONA TAXES The Arizona sales tax rate is currently 5.6%. Taxes in Arizona are origin-based which means that the sales tax rate is determined on the location where a sale originates. If you own a business, you are required to report and pay Phoenix privilege sales tax. Reporting frequency is based on taxable gross income. All new accounts must file monthly for a minimum of six months. Arizona also charges a vehicle license tax at every registration renewal. This tax is assessed for each $100 of your vehicles value. The taxable value for land is the full cash value, additionally the value for improvements is replacement costs less depreciation at 1.5 percent per year.

LUKE AIR FORCE BASE
Luke Air Force Base is an active-duty training base with a population of about 7,500 military members and 15,000 family members. Named after the WWI flying ace and Phoenix native, Lieutenant Frank Luke Jr., the first aviator to receive the Medal of Honor. The base is located 7 miles west of Glendale's central business district and about 15 miles west of Phoenix. Luke Air Force Base's mission is to train the world's greatest F-16 fighter pilots and maintainers, while deploying mission ready war-fighters. One of the main parts of the base is the Barry I VI. Goldwater Air Force Range, consisting of 57,000 cubic miles of airspace where pilots practice air-to-air maneuvers and simulate ground battlefield engagement. This training base is located southwest of Luke Air Force Base, between Yuma and Tucson, south of Interstate 8. Since 2012, Luke Air Force Base has been the permanent home of Naval Operational Support Center, supporting over 750 Navy Reservists in 16 Navy Reserve Units.
Established in 1978, the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona is located in northern Phoenix and encompasses about 225 acres of land. As of 2005, the cemetery had over 43,000 interments and isn't expected to hit capacity until the year 2030. In 1999, the Department of improvements adding three new committal shelters, a visitor center, founders place, assembly area, and a maintenance building. There are 18 monuments and memorials located in the National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, most arranged along a memorial walkway. Two of the cemetery's most unique memorials include the Eternal Flame Monument and the World War II Submarine Torpedo Monument.
